North of the village Vatos you will find Ermones, a small bay with craggy rocks and wooden hillside where archeological finds have shown an existence of life since the Bronze Age. Over looking the Ermones bay is the monastery of Madona Apelistra. The facilities available on the beach are considered to be well organized, here you will find one of the 6 diving schools on the island and all water sports. On both banks of a small river flowing from Ropa Valley into the bay, there are beautiful hotels, bars and traditional fish taverns. Only 2 km away there are a number of buildings that can accommodate almost 1.500 visitors. Following the river you arrive in Ropa Valley, which covers an area of 10.000 acres. The valley is renowned for its wild life such as rare reptiles, birds, amphibian and fishes. A part of Ropa Valley has been developed as the Golf Club, which extends over 1,000 acres, and the horse-riding club.
